The Hunter 458200 is the DC Latching Solenoid for Hunter valves. These solenoids are only used on valves with the SVC or WVS battery operated systems. The Battery operated SVC and WVS systems use DC instead of AC electrical supply. These DC solenoids replace the AC solenoids that come standard on a Hunter valve. Designed to fit all Hunter Plastic Valves.
A battery-operated controller sends a quick DC pulse to operate the solenoid, therefore the battery-operated controller requires a DC latching solenoid to operate correctly. Also, the DC latching solenoid will have one black wire for the common wire and one red wire for the station wire. It is important that the wires are connected correctly for proper operation. Black connected to the C or COM (common) terminal inside the controller, and the red wire connected to the appropriate station terminal.
