Quick choosing guide

  1. Pick control style: photocell for dusk to dawn, astronomic for locations with stray light, or mechanical for fixed on/off times.
  2. Match electrical: confirm voltage (120 or 208 240 or 277V), load type (LED, incandescent, motor/HP), and max watts or VA.
  3. Choose location rating: outdoor units belong in weatherproof enclosures with drip loops and proper strain relief.
  4. Place sensors right: aim photocells away from fixtures and windows to prevent cycling; do not block the sensor cap.

Pro tips: Turn power off before wiring, use outdoor-rated boxes and connectors, and label schedules inside the cover. For photocells, test by covering the sensor at dusk; for astronomic timers, set your location and let them auto-adjust through the year.
