Quick choosing guide

  1. Match base and voltage: confirm GU5.3 vs GU4, G4 vs GY6.35, 12V vs 120V before you buy.
  2. Pick the beam: 10–25 deg to highlight trees or signs, ~36 deg for general accents, 60 deg+ to wash walls.
  3. Set brightness: LED 4–5W is similar to old 35W halogen; 6–8W to replace 50W. Choose higher output for tall targets.
  4. Choose color: 2700–3000K feels natural outdoors. Keep CCT consistent within a zone.
  5. Check compatibility: use LEDs rated for magnetic or electronic transformers and the dimmer type you plan to use.

Pro tips: Aim for about 11–12V at the farthest 12V fixture, replace worn gaskets in sealed housings, and keep color temperature consistent across a zone. If LEDs flicker, add transformer headroom, use a hub layout, or choose lamps rated for your transformer and dimmer.
