Quick choosing guide
- Pick the gauge: use heavier wire for longer runs and higher watts. 16/2 for short, light loads; 14/2 for medium runs; 12/2 for long pulls or higher total watts.
- Plan the layout: hub or T-splits help limit voltage drop. Aim for about 11–12V at the farthest fixture.
- Match the jacket: choose direct-burial, sunlight-resistant cable for permanent outdoor installs.
- Allow slack: leave service loops at fixtures and the transformer for maintenance and adjustments.
