The Apollo 4A Series reduced pressure principle backflow preventer is designed to help isolate potable water from a non-potable downstream system in approved high-hazard applications. It uses two independently operating check modules with an intermediate relief valve. If pressure conditions prevent the checks from maintaining the required separation, the relief valve can discharge water from the zone between them rather than allowing a backflow condition to move toward the potable supply.
This listing includes 3/4 in. and 1 in. bronze assemblies with lead-free shut-off ball valves and test cocks. The modular check design supports in-line inspection and service. Because an RPZ can intentionally discharge during operation or a fault condition, the installation must provide suitable drainage, air-gap protection, access, and freeze protection.
