Brand: Hunter Industries SKU: I40-04-SS-ON
Product Overview
The Hunter I40-04-SS-ON is the 4-inch opposing-nozzle version of the I-40 commercial rotor. Unlike the standard adjustable-arc I-40, this ON model is designed specifically for full-circle operation. Primary and secondary nozzles are positioned on opposing sides of the rotating turret so the streams travel in opposite directions, improving mid-range and close-in water distribution while the rotor completes its 360-degree rotation.
The rotor includes a stainless-steel riser, factory-installed drain check valve, 1-inch female NPT inlet, and the I-40 non-strippable drive mechanism. Hunter publishes a radius range of approximately 52 to 76 feet and flow from 13.0 to 33.7 GPM for the opposing-nozzle I-40-ON platform, depending on the selected nozzle set and operating pressure. Recommended and operating pressure is 40 to 100 PSI, with a standard nozzle trajectory of 25 degrees. The current Hunter specification builder identifies six supplied nozzles for the 4-inch stainless opposing-nozzle model.
The full-circle opposing-nozzle configuration is intended for broad turf areas where balanced 360-degree coverage is required. The non-strippable drive helps protect the rotor if the turret is turned against its normal direction. A thick rubber cover and stainless riser support use in athletic, municipal, commercial, and other demanding landscapes. The standard check valve is designed to hold back up to 15 feet of elevation to reduce low-head drainage.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does ON mean in the model number?
ON identifies Hunter’s opposing-nozzle I-40 model, which uses primary and secondary nozzles on opposite sides of the turret for full-circle watering.
Can the I40-04-SS-ON be adjusted to a part-circle pattern?
No. This model is designed for 360-degree full-circle operation. Choose the standard I-40-04-SS for adjustable 50- to 360-degree coverage.
Why are two nozzle streams used?
The opposing streams improve close-in and mid-range distribution while the rotor waters the full circle.
