Brand: K-Rain    SKU: 4402

Product Overview

The K-Rain 4402 is a four-outlet 4000 Series indexing valve preconfigured with a two-zone cam. It alternates between two selected irrigation outlets each time the upstream water source shuts off and restarts. The additional physical outlets remain outside the operating sequence established by the factory cam.

This hydraulic approach can automate two downstream zones from one pump, timer-controlled supply, or master valve without installing a separate electric solenoid and control wire for each zone. The ABS polymer body uses a 1¼-inch slip inlet and four 1¼-inch slip outlets. K-Rain lists the 4000 Series for approximately 10 GPM minimum flow and 25 to 75 PSI, making it suitable for many residential, small-commercial, pump-fed, city-water, and approved effluent applications.

Proper indexing depends on more than the installed cam. The valve needs sufficient flow, correct vertical installation, balanced downstream restrictions, and a complete interruption of water flow between cycles so the stem-and-disc assembly can reset and advance. The two-zone cam can be replaced later if the system is reconfigured, provided the four-outlet body remains appropriate.

Key Features

  • Four physical outlets with two-zone operating cam
  • Alternates hydraulically between two selected zones
  • 1¼-inch slip inlet and outlets
  • Approximate 10-GPM minimum flow
  • 25- to 75-PSI operating range
  • ABS polymer body
  • Suitable for compatible pump or city-water systems

Common Uses

  • Alternating two irrigation zones from one water source
  • Residential and small-commercial sprinkler systems
  • Pump-start and single-station timer installations
  • Approved onsite wastewater or effluent distribution

Compatibility and Installation Notes

Install vertically and follow the current K-Rain piping layout. Identify the two active outlets before connecting laterals. Use compatible solvent-weld materials, allow full cure time, and ensure the upstream control creates a complete off cycle. Check downstream flow and pressure so each zone falls within the valve's operating requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does a two-zone valve have four outlets?

The four-outlet body uses a two-zone cam that places only two outlets into the operating sequence.

Can the zone count be changed?

Yes. A compatible three- or four-zone cam can be installed if the piping layout supports the new sequence.

Does the valve require electricity?

The indexing valve itself is water operated. The upstream pump or control valve may still require a timer or electrical control.

Why Buy the K-Rain 4402 from Big Frog Supply?

The 4402 arrives configured for the simplest two-zone sequence while retaining the serviceable four-outlet 4000 platform. Big Frog Supply also carries the replacement cams and internal parts needed if the system is expanded or rebuilt later.
