Lighting Transformers

Lighting transformers power low voltage outdoor systems with clean, reliable 12V output. Choose compact magnetic or electronic models, single tap or multi-tap 12-15V units to handle long runs, and enclosures with built-in timers, photocells, or smart control.

Shop by need

  • Wattage: 75W to 900W single or multi-zone outputs
  • Taps: fixed 12V or multi-tap 12/13/14/15V for voltage drop compensation
  • Control options: mechanical or astronomic timers, plug-in photocells, Wi-Fi or app modules
  • Enclosures: stainless or powder-coated steel, outdoor wet-location rated

Quick choosing guide

  1. Size the load: add fixture watts and pick a transformer with about 20-30 percent headroom (for example, 180W load -> 300W transformer).
  2. Choose tap voltage: use multi-tap 12-15V to keep far fixtures near 11-12V on long runs.
  3. Plan control: pick dusk-to-dawn photocell, astronomic timer, or Wi-Fi control for schedules and overrides.
  4. Select enclosure: stainless for coastal or high exposure; powder-coat for standard sites.
  5. Wire layout: use hub or T-splits and proper cable gauge (12 or 14 AWG typical) to limit drop.

Pro tips: Mount the transformer vertical and above grade with a drip loop, land 120V on a GFCI protected circuit, and aim for about 11-12V at the farthest fixture. Group similar run lengths together, upsize cable on long pulls, and label each circuit inside the enclosure for easy service.
