Lighting Wire
Lighting wire for dependable low voltage installs. Choose direct-burial, sunlight-resistant copper cable for 12V landscape systems, plus fixture leads and extension whips to finish clean, serviceable runs.
Shop by need
- Low voltage cable: 12/2, 14/2, 16/2 stranded copper, sunlight and moisture resistant
- Fixture leads: 18/2 whip extensions and pigtails for path, step, and accent lights
- Multi-conductor: 4-conductor and 5-conductor for RGB/RGBW or control accessories
- Jacket options: direct-burial PVC or heavy-duty outdoor-rated jackets
- Lengths: cut lengths and bulk spools for small jobs or whole-yard runs
Quick choosing guide
- Pick the gauge: use heavier wire for longer runs and higher watts. 16/2 for short, light loads; 14/2 for medium runs; 12/2 for long pulls or higher total watts.
- Plan the layout: hub or T-splits help limit voltage drop. Aim for about 11–12V at the farthest fixture.
- Match the jacket: choose direct-burial, sunlight-resistant cable for permanent outdoor installs.
- Allow slack: leave service loops at fixtures and the transformer for maintenance and adjustments.
- Follow local code: bury cable to required depth and keep splices above standing water in boxes.

Pro tips: Test voltage at the farthest fixture, label each run at the transformer, and use gel-filled, direct-burial connectors for every splice. Upsize wire on long pulls, route in conduit under hardscape crossings, and keep cable out of mower lines.
