Quick choosing guide

1. Pick the material: PEX or CPVC for hot/cold lines, PVC for drains and outdoors (protect from UV), match to local code.
2. Size & rating: confirm pipe size, schedule/pressure, and temperature rating for the job.
3. Choose the connection: solvent weld for PVC/CPVC; crimp or clamp for PEX; use PTFE tape or pipe dope on tapered threads.
4. Add shutoffs: install ball valves or angle stops where service access is needed.
5. Support & seal: use proper hangers, avoid mixed-metal corrosion, and pressure test for leaks.

Pro tips: Dry fit first, mark insertion depth, and wipe joints clean. Prime and cement PVC/CPVC per manufacturer directions, use the correct crimp/clamp for PEX, and add unions where future service is likely. Insulate lines in unconditioned spaces and winterize outdoor faucets
