Quick sizing guide
- Find your duty point: add up the zone’s nozzle GPM and required PSI at heads (sprays ~20–30 PSI; rotors ~30–50 PSI). Add friction, elevation, and device losses.
- Match the curve: choose a pump that delivers that GPM at the calculated PSI on its performance curve.
- Plan the suction: keep suction runs short/straight, upsize the suction pipe, and use a foot valve or check valve for priming.
- Control & protection: tie the pump to your controller (pump-start relay), add run-dry/overheat protection, and use code-required backflow on the system.
Pro tips: Mount the pump on a solid, level pad near the water source, prime before first start, and add a suction strainer to keep debris out. Use unions for service, insulate/vent enclosures for noise and weather, and winterize in freezing climates.
