Deck lights add safe, inviting glow for stairs, rails, and seating areas—perfect for late-night hangouts without harsh glare. Choose low-voltage 12V for easy landscape wiring or 120V line-voltage for architectural installs, with integrated-LED or lamp-ready options.

Shop by need

  • Types: step/riser lights, under-rail strips, post-cap lights, recessed “dot” lights, surface pucks, hardscape/edge wash, and sconce accents
  • Voltage: 12V (transformer required) or 120V line-voltage (electrician recommended)
  • Output & color: ~20–150 lm per fixture; 2700–3000K warm white (select tunable options)
  • Build: brass, marine-grade aluminum, stainless, composite; wet/damp-rated with UV-stable finishes

Quick choosing guide

  1. Map the zones: stairs (safety first), perimeter rails, seating, and feature walls.
  2. Pick the form: louvered step lights for low-glare stairs; slim strips for under-rail; post caps for markers; recessed dots for “star” effects.
  3. Set brightness/CCT: 2700–3000K feels cozy; target 20–60 lm on stairs and 60–120 lm for task edges.
  4. Choose voltage: 12V is DIY-friendly—size the transformer for total watts + ~20% headroom. Use 120V only where code and access allow.
  5. Plan spacing: step lights every 3–4 treads (or one per tread); under-rail ~3–5 ft between nodes; post caps on each post or alternating.
