Quick choosing guide
- Start the zone right: add a backflow device as required, then a filter and a 25–30 PSI regulator.
- Pick delivery: inline dripline for beds and hedges; emitters for individual plants; micro sprays for gentle overhead on shrubs and groundcover.
- Match tubing and fittings: confirm 1/2 in outside diameter (common 0.700 in or 17 mm). Choose barbed or compression to fit your OD.
- Choose control: hose-end for a faucet, battery valve-mounted for 1–2 stations, multi-station battery for retrofits, or 24VAC for wired manifolds.
- Valve compatibility: battery controllers use 9V DC latching solenoids; wired controllers use 24VAC valves.
- Layout and maintenance: stake every 3–5 ft, add flush ends, and winterize where it freezes.
Pro tips: Flush lines at startup, keep all splices above standing water in boxes, and use gel-filled connectors on valve wiring. Group plants by water needs, use cycle-soak on slopes, and keep color or flow consistent within a zone.
